Sometimes the only way to reclaim
unusable land due to poor drainage is through site grading. We
will determine if enough slope exists near the foundation of
a house to correct drainage issues. Leaky basements often stem
from having insufficient slope away from the foundation. A good
slope when grading land extending out from a house foundation
is 6 inches for the first 10 feet (that's a slope of 5 percent).
Developers often leave land accumulated or sloped in a way that may not be advantageous
for proper drainage. One of the other downsides to mounds left in the landscape
is obstruction of beautiful views, land too steep to walk, or mowing |

or unusable for any other purpose. In thatcase we may recommend grading to create areas for patio, driveway
or garden. |
