Pond Maintenance
Basis for our recommendations:
Ponds require weekly maintenance as
well as seasonal
maintenance.
Weekly maintenance includes:
water testing, scrubbing, filtration maintenance, chemically
altering water levels.
Seasonal maintenance includes:
Spring cleaning (dredging), summer cleaning (algae maintenance
plant maintenance), fall cleaning, (winterizing: adding equipment
for ice maintenance, netting for debris and last cleaning
of the year).
Water testing is a must and should be done weekly. After
each test, the appropriate chemicals will be added to maintain
both fish and plant life.
Our Weekly Maintenance of Ponds
Step 1. Clean Filtration System by emptying
basket, clean brushes, pads or any filtration materials on
both the skimmer and falls.
Step 2. Scrub algae
off rocks in pond, and clean waterfall rocks.
Step 3. Do partial change of water
from the bottom.
Step 4. Add necessary ingredients (bacteria,
salts and food additives) to bring the ecological system into
balance.
Our Spring Opening and Fall Closing of Ponds:
The treatment we give to each pond will vary depending on the
on-going maintenance given to the pond and how the pond was
closed the prior year. |
